Mission

The Women's Kiteboarding Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the progression and promotion of women of all ages and abilities in the sport of kiteboarding.

What We Do: The WKA will initially focus on promoting kiteboarding to women through events such as Kite Nights and Women's Kite Clinics. The organization will also serve as the principle women's kiteboarding resource for the media, potential sponsors and partners, women amateur and pro riders, and anyone looking to get into the sport.

Who We Are: The WKA was founded by kiteboarding industry leaders and riders Tonia Farman and Stacy Boggs in June 2005. Recognizing a need for women to learn, progress, and enjoy the sport with confidence and camaraderie, Tonia and Stacy set out to create one cohesive community.

Goals:

  1. PROMOTE and encourage women of all ages and abilities in the sport of kiteboarding.
  2. REPRESENT women as positive, athletic, and confident in the kiteboarding arena including media, competitions, and overall kiteboarding community.
  3. PROVIDE a rich resource of information on kiteboarding to ALL.
  4. FACILITATE interaction and conversation between members of WKA in an effort to build a community of active women.
  5. CONTRIBUTE  a little back to our communities that share the beaches with us through programs such as Kiteboarding 4 Cancer.

"I would like to share this passion with every women I meet. I had to chance to learn to kiteboard in June 2007 at the Wind and Kite School in NB Canada and since my first body dragging session, I have been hooked. I have been trying to explain to other women what it feel like to kite and I can`t even put it in words, to me it feel like I am flying... I am so hooked that I will rearrange my work day to allow me to kite in case they call for a windy day!! I have seen myself kite in very nice warm conditions and also very cold conditions... For women who live in parts of the world were you have 4 seasons this sport can allow to kite in the water and in the snow as well!! Spread the good news about kiting!!"
